Five passengers were killed on Sunday (November 20, 2022) night when a speeding truck rammed a CNG-run autorickshaw at Trishal upazila in Mymensingh district.
The accident happened at Balipara on Mymensingh-Gafargaon highway. The deceased could not be identified instantly.
Trishal Police Station’s officer-in-charge (OC) Main Uddin said five passengers on board a CNG-run autorickshaw was going toward Balipara. At that time, a speeding truck was coming from the opposite direction rammed the autorickshaw, leaving five people dead on the spot.
Of the deceased, three were men and two women.
The identities of the victims — three males and two females— could not be known immediately, reports our local correspondent quoting Mohammad Mainuddin, officer-in-charge of Trishal Police Station.
Quoting locals, the OC said the accident happened at 7:30pm. Five passengers of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot, he said, adding that another injured was sent to Trishal Upazila Health Complex.
On information, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. Police seized the truck, he added.
