International Folklore conference begins at RU

A two-day International Folklore Conference- 2022 began at Rajshahi University (RU) for the fifth consecutive time Sunday.
Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Golam Sabbir Sattar Tapu inaugurated the conference titled “Folkloristics in Pursuit of SDGs: A Unison Endeavour of Uni and Industry” at senate building as the chief guest.
Member of Bangladesh Public Service Commission Abdul Mannan, Director General of Bangla Academy Muhammad Nurul Huda and RU Pro-VCs Prof Sultan-Ul-Islam and Prof Humayun Kabir addressed the opening ceremony as special guests.
VC of North Bengal International University Prof Abdul Khaleque and Chairman of Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad spoke on the occasion as focal persons.
In his remarks, VC Prof Golam Sabbir termed the SDG as a multidisciplinary issue as it also has folklore side by side with economic and social development.
Human nature, lifestyle and living and livelihood conditions influenced the overall development.
He expected that specific guidelines to achieve the SDGs will be shorted out from discussion and bilateral interactions of the conference.
There are five academic sessions, two plenary sessions and cultural functions in the two-day conference.
