Field day on BARI Hybrid Tomato held

The On-Farm Research Division (OFRD), Kushtia of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) arranged a field day on the production technology of BARI hybrid tomato-8 and BARI hybrid tomato-11 developed by BARI at Vadalia Para village of Kushtia Sadar Upazila in Kushtia on Wednesday . The field day was organized with the funding of the program titled ‘Adaptive trial, production and community based pilot production program of summer tomato in Bangladesh’. Honorable Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Mr. Md. Sayedul Islam was present as chief guest and inaugurated the field day. Director General of BARI Dr. Debasish Sarker presided over the program while Director General of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) Mr. Md. Benojir Alam, Director General of Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) Dr. Md. Shahjahan Kabir, BARI Director (Pulse Research Centre) Dr. Md. Mohi uddin and Deputy Director of Department of Agricultural Extension, Kushtia Dr. Hayat Mahmud were present as special guests.
 
33 pc women representation demanded

 According to the directives of the Representation of the People Order (RPO), political parties must ensure a minimum of 33 percent women representation at all levels by 2025. This claim was made in a press conference of Rangpur Women’s Development Forum and Aparajita Network at their Office on Tuesday. Among otherts, Gangachra Upazila Women Vice Chairman Mocha Rabia Begum, Mithapukur Upazila Vice Chairman Shamima Akhtar Jasmin, Gangachra Upazila Women Vice Chairman Anjumanara Mini, Mithapukre Baluamasimpurer Aparajita, Mocha Runa Laila, Rangpur Sadar Upazila Aparajita Nilufa Yasmin and Mithapukur Tarabanu, Bharti Rani and Saleha Begum. Since the deadline fixed in the People’s Representation Order (2020) for ensuring 33% women representation in political parties has already passed, a new deadline should be announced immediately and measures taken to implement it.
