Sangkhini snake rescued from paddy field in Kalapara

Kalapara branch members of Animal Lovers of Patuakhali rescued a seven feet long Sangkhini snake from a farmer’s paddy field in Kalapara of Patuakhali on Friday.
The snake was recovered from the paddy field of Zahirul Islam, a farmer of Paschim Sonatala village of Nilganj union of the upazila.
The snake was released at Rajpara forest around 12 noon on Saturday (November 12).
Rakayet Ahsan, team leader of Animal Lover’s Kalapara branch, said that this rare yellow and black striped snake was caught in a net by Zahirul, a farmer of Sonatala village. Later we got the news and rescued the snake.
The snake was slightly injured due to being caught in the net. After the treatment we release the animal. He also said that earlier we have released several rare species of snakes and birds.
Monirul Haque Moni, Forest Officer of Kalapara Upazila Forest Division, said that the members of Animal Lovers of Patuakhali have been assisted in rescuing and freeing the snake.
