Dengue deaths break all previous records

Dengue deaths broke all previous records in Bangladesh after recording five more fatalities in the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning.
The death toll reached 182 this year on account of the mosquito born disease in the country.
The previous highest record of the dengue deaths in the country was 179 in 2019.
As per the data of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 41 people died from Dengue while 6,778 were hospitalised in the first week of November.
The DGHS data showed that 820 patients were hospitalised with dengue in last 24 hours.
In spite of setting up new wards, the hospitals struggle to accommodate dengue patients, officials from the DGHS said.
Physicians and public health experts said that measures taken by the city corporations and other authorities are not adequate.
As per the data of the DGHS, all the latest deaths were recorded from the capital raising the death toll in the division to 109.
It showed also that among the new patients, 450 were admitted to different hospitals in the capital and 370 outside Dhaka.
It said that a total of 3,223 dengue patients, including 1,947 in the capital, were now receiving medical treatment at hospitals across the country.
The DGHS recorded 44,802 dengue cases and 41,397 recoveries so far this year.
On November 3, the country reported nine dengue deaths, the highest death toll from dengue in a day this year.
Earlier, in in 2019, dengue outbreaks in the country exceeded all previous records.
A total of 101,354 dengue cases with 179 fatalities were recorded in the year.
Meanwhile, of the new patients, 450 were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and 370 outside it, according to the DGHS.
