Farmers deprived of advance weather information in Ishwardi

Ishwardi (Pabna) Correspondent :
Farmers of Ishwardi are deprived of receiving information as all the devices including automatic rain gauge meters installed in seven unions at the field level for forecasting the agricultural weather are useless. Rain gauge meters, solar panels and information boards are non-operational in all unions. Rain gauges and solar panels were installed on the roof of the Union Parishad. They are now in a state of disrepair. The farmers of Ishwardi, who depend on agriculture, are in dire straits due to lack of advance information.
National Krishi Padak awardee farmer Abdul Bari alias Kopi Bari said that display boards and rain gauge meters were installed in Salimpur Union Parishad under weather information project to forecast the weather for farmers. It has been lying idle for a long time. Farmers are not getting weather forecast. The farmer is suffering.
National Krishi Padak awardee farmer Siddiqur Rahman Moyez alias Kul Moyez, the president of the Farmers’ Development Society, said that the government had taken a very important initiative to inform the farmers about the weather at the union level.
Farmers are greatly benefited if they know the weather forecast seven days in advance. He demanded to keep the agro-meteorological information centers operational on behalf of grassroots farmers.
Mozammel Haque, Agriculture Sub-Assistant Officer of Dashuria Union, said that the rain gauge meter has been useless here for quite some time.
I informed the matter to the senior agriculture officer.
Shariful Islam, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer of Salimpur, said that all devices including rain gauge meters for providing weather information to farmers have become useless due to lack of renovation.
Even if the device is useless, we try to collect the data from the meteorological office and inform the farmers.
Bakul Sardar, chairman of Dashuria, said that the rain gauge and weather information board has been broken for a long time. The activities are stopped due to the failure of weather equipment for the farmers.
I have informed the concerned authorities about this.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Mita Sarkar said that display boards and rain gauge meters have been installed under the agricultural meteorological information improvement project. They were good. At present all the unions are in a useless state. Information Improvement Project contacted. They will be repaired and reopened soon.
