Biswajit murder case: Convict arrested after 10 years

The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a fugitive convict, who was sentenced to life-term in jail in the Old Dhaka’s Biswajit Das murder case.
The arrested man has been identified as Khandaker Md Younus Ali alias Younus.
Md. Fazlul Haq, Senior Assistant Director of RAB (media), confirmed the news to the media.
Accused Younus was arrested from Kellapur area of Narayanganj on Monday night.
In primary interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in the killing.
Biswajit Das, a tailor-shop worker, was chopped to death in broad-daylight near Bahadur Shah Park in Old Dhaka on December 9, 2012, during a blockade programme.
On December 18, 2013, a Speedy Trial Tribunal awarded death penalty to eight people and 13 others to life-term imprisonment for killing him.
On August 6, 2017, the High Court upheld the death sentences of two, commuted death sentences of four to life imprisonment and acquitted four from the charges.
