Trophy unveiling programme of Hockey Champions Trophy held

The trophy unveiling programme of Hockey Champions Trophy was held in a befitting manner at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Thursday. The Hockey Champions Trophy will begin today at the same venue. A total of six teams will take part the first franchise-based hockey Tournament. They are: Walton Dhaka, Metro Express Barishal, Acme Chattogram, Monarch Mart Padma, Rupayan City Cumilla and Saif Powertec Group Khulna.
The captains of the participating teams and the high officials of Bangladesh Hockey Federation took part in the trophy unveiling programme at the premier venue of Bangladesh’s hockey competition in front of a good number of journalists yesterday.
The six captains of the participating teams expressed their high hope after the trophy unveiling programme.
Saif Powertec Group Khulna will take on Acme Chattogram in the opening match today at 6.30pm, while Monarch Mart Padma will face Rupayan City Cumilla at 8.15pm. Private satellite sports channel T Sports will telecast the matches live from the arena.
President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan will inaugurate the gala hockey meet as the chief guest.
Among the 19 Icon players, Walton Dhaka picked up Ashraful Islam, Acme Chattogram Rezaul Karim, Mettro Express Barishal Roman Sarkar, Monarch Mart Padma Rasel Mahmud Jimmy, Rupayan Group Cumilla Sohanur Rahman Sabuj and Saif Powertec Khulna Biplob Kujur through lottery.
Six local Icon players are expected to receive Taka five lakh each, Category A plus players will get Tk four lakh, category A players Tk three lakh, category B Tk two lakh and category C Tk one lakh each.
