Fraud gang collects 1 lakh NID to tempt people proving loan

A fraud gang has collected about one lakh National Identity Cards (NIDs) for tempting the people of different upazilas of Kishorgonj district of loan without interest.
The Non-governmental Organisation (NGO) named Non-violence revolution of Bangladesh is accused of deceiving poor people.
The alleged NGO has expanded its network across the Kishorgong district and charged people to pay Tk 20 to Tk 1000 against every NID card.
They told the people that they would bring the black money from the Switzerland bank which was deposited by Bangladeshi people and will disburse to the people and the amount will be from one lakh taka to one crore taka without any interest.
The fraud gang briefed the people that they would be required to pay Tk 1000 as monthly installment basis.
Karimgonj upazila’s Dargavith’s housewife Mamataz Begum said, we are poor people. We maintain our family by taking loan from different NGOs’. When we heard that we would get Tk one lakh without any interest, then we gave them our NID with some money.
Former police constable A M Fazlul Kader (Babul) was on duty to collect NIDs from the people.
When Babul asked about the NID collection, he said our organization is Non-violence revolution of Bangladesh. Our head office located in Dhaka directed to us to collect NID from the people and send to head quarters. We are field level worker and know nothing more.
Feruna Akter is from Kishorgong District said our Dhaka office is located behind the City College. Chairman gave duty to Kishorgong for collecting NID. She also denied the collecting of money.
Kishoreganj District Election Officer Mohammad Ashraful Alam said, NID card information is the wealth of individuals and the state. If card information falls into the hands of fraudsters, there is a possibility of harm to the individual. So it is not right to give NID card information to anyone.
In this regard, Kishoreganj District Cooperative Officer Umme Maryam said that there is no registration of a cooperative society in Kishoreganj under the name of Non-violence revolution of Bangladesh. If they work in the name of cooperative society then it is illegal.
In this regard, Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Shamim Alam said that the matter has already been reported to the Superintendent of Police (SP). Police are working on the matter. Soon the cycle will be brought under the law.
