Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) wants an impartial and non-partisan government in the interest of free and fair polls.
Party leaders say that before holding the parliamentary election, a massive amendment to the election laws and neutrality is necessary for ensuring a participatory and fair polls.
The observation came during a view exchange meeting with the journalists in a city restaurant on the occasion of the arrangement of the National Seerat Conference to be held in the capital on November 4.
The IAB is negotiating with the like-minded parties to form alliance to show strength in the polls, Assistant Secretary General of Islami Andolan Bangladesh Maulana Muhammad Imtiaz Alam said.
“We are holding talks with the like-minded Islami political parties who believe in the spirit of a welfare state. We are not thinking of joining Awami League or BNP,” Imtiaz Alam, who is also the President of Dhaka Mahanagar South of IAB, said.
Raising questions about the Electronic Voting Machines, he said, “Recently we have observed vote rigging by EVM in the Gaibandha by-polls. Even we did not take part in the election dialogue on the EVM issue.”
He also said that IAB believed in the free movement of the journalists in the election centres to ensure the surveillance properly.
“Earlier we have seen that the journalists were barred to enter the polling centres. Whereas the observers who were mostly ruling party members were allowed in the centres,” he alleged.
“We don’t want any election under partisan government as impartial election is not possible under such government as we have seen the last parliamentary polls. We want an impartial non-partisan government during elections,” he added.
With reference to the Prophet Muhammad (Sm), he said, “Today the total humanity is being oppressed in the hands of different oppressors. Attempts are being taken to legalise the illegal works. Only the ideals of Muhammad (Sm) can save us from it.”
Regarding the National Seerat Conference, the organisers said that a National Seerat Competition would be held in the capital on October 21 while the Conference would be held on November 4 when the prizes will be awarded.
IAB Ameer Mufti Syed Rezaul Karim will grace the Conference as the Chief Guest.
