Greece sent back eight undocumented Bangladeshi migrants from the country to Dhaka on Monday night by a special flight.
The European country has repatriated fourth phase of Bangladeshi undocumented immigrants so far after 2016.
The officials of the country informed Bangladeshi embassy there that these eight undocumented immigrants had no scope to stay in the European country anymore.
As a result, the Greece government sent those people back to Dhaka.
As per the information of the Greek immigrant department, the country sent back 19 undocumented Bangladeshi migrants in December, 2021. They have also sent back another 27 Bangladeshi men from the mainland of the country and from Greek Cypriot.
Meanwhile, the two country have signed an agreement over recruiting Bangladeshi migration workers in the European country.
As per the MoU, the Greece government has to recruit several thousand Bangladeshi workers in different sectors including agriculture.
As per the MoU the Athens also has to legalize undocumented Bangldeshi migrants.
In the meantime, the arrests spree of undocumented workers created huge panic among the Bangldeshi migrants there who yet are to be ligalised.
Sources said there are about 30 thousand Bangldeshi workers are living in the country.
Among them, only 12 thousands have legal documents to stay and doing job there.
The Athens said that rests of the Bangladeshis have no legal documents to stay in the country.
Asylum applications from many of those Bangladeshis also have been cancelled.
Related sources said that the Greece is sending back undocumented Bangladeshi workers as per the standard operations procedures treaty an agreement signed between Bangladesh and the European Union in 2017.
