‘There is no food crisis in the country’

Staff Reporter :
Bridges Minister and General Secretary of the ruling Awami League Obaidul Quader on Sunday said, there is no food crisis in the country.
“In many cases, we are in good positions. There is no food crisis in our country. We are better than any other country in this field,” the Bridges Minister said while talking with journalists after
a meeting with Chiefs of different department under his ministry in his secretariat office.
“It is also correct that no one has so far died due to starvation. We have to be, however, careful because of unwanted Ukraine-Russia war,” the minister said.
The minister said that they are not worried about the foreign currency reserve.
“We can maintain everything with the remaining reserve for about five to six months,” Obaidul Quader said.
He said, there are some hardships about overcoming this crisis. But there is no logic in the BNP’s demand for stepping down the government.
He questioned as to how does the BNP demand government’s stepping down?
The ruling party General Secretary said that the next general polls will be held as per the constitution.
The election commission will conduct free and fair polls. The government would not interfere.
“It is not comprehensible as to how does the BNP demand caretaker government? Why they do not eliminate the ghost of caretaker government from their shoulder?” Questioned the AL General Secretary.
Obaidul Quader said that keeping electronic voting machine (EVM) in the election will be acceptable.
“The AL wants to keep the EVM in all the constituencies. But it is up to EC,” Obaidul Quader said.
The ruling party General Secretary said, “We are in favour of EVM because there is no possibility of vote rigging by it. In Brazil, the President of the country is opposing EVM, while its opposition party is on favour of the voting machine. In our country, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and their party are opposing the EVM.”
