MoU between DU and Malaysian UPSI signed

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Dhaka (DU) and University Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Malaysia was signed on Monday.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman and Vice-Chancellor of UPSI Prof. Dr Amin Bin Md Taff signed the MoU on behalf of their respective universities.
High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh Haznah Md. Hashim, Director of the Institute of Modern Languages of DU Prof. Dr ABM Razaul Karim Faquire and Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Communication of UPSI Prof. Dr Mazura Mastura Binti Muhammad were present on this occasion. Deputy Vice-Chancellor of UPSI Prof. Dr Marzita Binte Putih was virtually
connected with the programme. According to the MoU, a Centre for Malay Language and Culture will be established at DU as well as a Centre for Bangla Language and Culture will be established at UPSI. DU and UPSI will undertake joint collaborative academic and research programmes as well as students and academic staff mobility programmes.
Besides, the two universities will exchange teachers, students, researchers, experts, academic materials and information.
The two institutions will also jointly organise seminar, symposium, workshop, conference and training programme and supervise postgraduate programmes. Under this MoU, DU and UPSI will work together to develop curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman said, “The friendly ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia have been prevailing for a long time.”
“This friendly relationship between the two countries will be further strengthened through this MoU,” he hoped.
He stressed the need for undertaking more collaborative academic and research programmes to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
