‘Life is Beautiful’ and Shanta Islam

National Film Award winning noted actress Shanta Islam announced that she would never return to acting. She last acted in
own directed a drama 18 years ago. After that she was not seen
in any sort of television drama. According to the actress, she kept herself away from acting to take care of her only son Shoumik. Shanta has recently joined as a host of the popular RTV magazine show titled ‘Life is Beautiful.’
While talking about her realisations in life, Shanta Islam said, “My home is surrounded by my love and emotions. All my poems and songs now head to my little home and the spoken words of my loved ones become the lyrics of these songs. I am enchanted by my musings and I am a very happy person. The ripples of my happiness turn into a melody when I am with my loved ones. By the grace of the Almighty, I am very happy now.”
Shanta Islam was born in Nabiganj, Sylhet. Her father is Rafiqul Haque and her mother is Razia Haque. In 1983, Shanta Islam first came into the limelight by acting in Tariq Anam Khan’s drama titled ‘Juddho’ for a theatre troupe named Theatre.
In 1985, Shanta first acted in the TV drama titled ‘Obhijog.’ She also acted in mentionable television dramas including ‘Itikotha,’ ‘Roopnagar,’ ‘Neetu Tomake Bhalobashi,’ ‘Manush,’ etc. She was awarded the National Film Award for acting in Sheikh Niamat Ali’s movie ‘Anyo Jibon.’
