The biggest festival of Hindu community ‘Durga Puja’ ended across the country on Wednesday without any undesirable incident as the security was on high alert.
The Puja organisers and devotees expressed their satisfaction for holding the Puja rituals without any fear, as several layers of security measures were taken round the clock to fend off any suspicious elements.
The government assured the organisers that tight security would be ensured so that the devotees could perform their rituals without fear.
Tens of thousands of law enforces including police, ansars, volunteers and ruling party men were also engaged in all the Puja Mandaps to ensure a peaceful environment.
The devotees were seen in festive moods when Durga Devi was being taken to the water bodies for immersions.
Several processions were brought out in the capital and elsewhere in the country when the Devi was being taken for the final rituals.
On October 1, the Puja was started across the country at more than 30 thousand Mandaps including 241 in the capital amid tight security.
During the immersion, police, fire service, RAB, Coast Guard, security personnel in plain clothes were seen guarding the Ghat areas.
