Newly-appointed Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) M Khurshid Hossain has dismissed any kind of threat or sabotage attack on Sharidiya Durga Puja, the main religious festival of the Hindu community.
The new DG said this while responding to the journalists after visiting the security arrangement at Banani Puja mandap in the city on Monday noon.
Considering everything, security arrangements have been set up in every Puja mandap. RAB commando teams and helicopters are ready to foil any sabotage. Nowadays Intelligence surveillance is better than any time in the past, he said.
RAB DG also said that any attack on Hindu community, vandalism of worship centre or breaking of worship
equipment, robbery, theft etc. will be immediately investigated and brought under the law.
RAB’s cyber monitoring team is monitoring to prevent any rumours and false information being spread in the virtual world, he added.
Responding to a question that some 50 to 60 youths have left the houses, he said “No matter, RAB is smart from the militants.
He has also opined that RAB is now smarter compared to the militants.
