India Women’s Cricket team thrashed Malaysia Women’s Cricket team by 30 runs (according to Duckworth/ Lewis Method) in their group match of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Academy Ground in Sylhet on Monday.
Batting first India piled up a mammoth total of 181 for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
Later, the rain interrupted the match and Malaysia had a target of 47 runs to win in 5.2 overs. Malaysia scored 16 runs for the loss of two wickets in 5.2 overs.
India made a formidable start as openers Sabbhineni Meghana and Shafali Verma scored together 116 runs in the opening stand before Meghana was caught at the extra cover by Mahirah Izzati Ismail off Winifred Duraisingam.
Meghana hammered a superb 69. Her 53-ball innings was laced with 11 fours and a sixer. Meghana was adjudged the Player of the Match for her terrific batting performance.
After Meghana’s dismissal, Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh added together 32 runs for the second wicket partnership before Verma was bowled out by Nur Dania Syuhada when India’s score was 158 for the loss of two wickets.
Verma hit a fine 46. Her 39-ball innings was ornamented with three sixes and a four.
Richa remained unbeaten with 33 runs. Her 19-ball knock was laced with five fours and a sixer.
Nur Daniya and Winifred Duraisingam captured two wickets each for nine and 36 runs respectively.
Later, Malaysia batters failed to chase their revise target.
Mas Elysa remained unbeaten with 14 runs. Her 17-ball innings had three fours.
Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Deepti Sharma picked up one wicket each for six and 10 runs respectively.
