Dengue claims 5 more lives, 284 others hospitalised

The country reported five more deaths from dengue in the last 24 hours till Tuesday morning.
The latest figure raised this year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 31 across the country.
During this period, 284 more patients were taken to hospitals with the viral fever as cases continued to increase.
Data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) showed this.
The latest fatalities were reported from Dhaka, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar districts, the DGHS data said.
With the new numbers, the dengue death toll in Cox’s Bazar district reached 15 while 13 in Dhaka district.Of the new patients, 224 were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and the rest 60 were outside the capital, the latest DGHS data said.
It showed that a total of 850 dengue patients, including 711 in the capital, are under medical treatment in different hospitals across the country.
On June 21, the DGHS reported the first death of the season from the mosquito born disease.
The health authorities have recorded 7,397 dengue cases and 6,516 recoveries in this year.
Public Health Experts warned of more dengue cases across the country if rain begins in the coming days.
