Arrested RU JCD leaders get bail, strike withdrawn

Eighteen Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leaders of Rajshahi University (RU) unit who were arrested earlier on Sunday night got free on bail yesterday (Monday).
Sharmin Akter, Judge of Rajshahi Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court, granted the bail after producing them to the court, confirmed Alamgir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Motihar Police Station.
Soon after the leaders got bail, JCD RU unit withdrew the indefinite strike from campus which they
enforced demanding immediate release of their leaders.
“We have withdrawn strike on campus as our leaders have been bailed out, said Ahsanuzzaman Anil, Vice-President of JCD RU unit.
Though JCD enforced strike on campus yesterday, all classes and examinations were held smoothly in the university.
Earlier, on Sunday night, police picked up 19 leaders and activists, including President Imtiaz Ahmed and General Secretary Kamrul Hasan, of JCD RU unit when they all were holding a meeting outside the campus in the city’s Mirzapur area last night.
