RAB members arrested an alleged drug trader and seized 2.240 kg of hemp from him at Nayalabhanga union of Sundarpur village under Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district on Friday morning.The arrested person has been identified as Md. Liton Ali, 22, son of Md. Abdul Jalil of the aforesaid area under Shibganj upazila of the district.RAB said, acting on secret information, an operation team of RAB from Chapainawabganj camp raided the area at 9-15 am and held him with the hemp.Another accused Abdus Sattar, 50, son of Bhutu Mondal of the same area fled away and RAB has been trying to nab him, the sources added.
One electrocuted in Monirampur

One electric worker was electrocuted and other was injured when they were repairing work on a electric line located at Monirampur Nehalpur road side on Thursday.
He was identified as Abdus Salam (30), son of let Hosen Ali of village Borali and Abdur Rasid (32) of village Goarbhanga both hail from Kashabpur Upazila were repairing electric line. Sources said, as the electricity was on at the line, so they electrocuted and fall from the pole. Soon after the accident they rushed to the Jessore Medical Collage Hospital. But the on duty doctor of the hospital declared Abdus Salam dead. The other burn injured Abdur Rasid has sent to Dhaka for better treatment. A case was registered with the Monirampur police station in this connection.
Mobile court sentences teacher for supplying copy in exam
MUNSHIGANJ: A mobile court(MC) here on Thursday sentenced seven-day jail to a teacher for supplying copy to a JSC candidate in cheating in the examination hall. The court, led by magistrate and upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Tongibari upazila, Tazina Sarwar, caught red-handed Mohammad Moshin Hossain, an assistant teacher of Bazraghogani High school with the copy at Tongibari Pilot Girls’ High School Center yesterday. The magistrate told the reporters that she awarded the sentence to the teacher for helping student to adopt unfair means in the examination hall, reports BSS.
Universal Children Day observed in Thakurgaon

The Universal Children Day was observed at Pirganj of Thakurgaon district on Thursday last. On the occasion `Good Neighbors’ brought out a colorful rally from Niyamatpur agricultural co-operative society office premises. The rally leaded by Pirganj Upazila Parishad Chairman Md. Ziaul Islam Zia and Upazila Nirbahi officer ABM Iftekharul Islam Khandakar paraded the main roads of the locality. A good number of children, NGO workers and local mass people took part in the rally.Later , a discussion meeting was held at co-operative society office premises. The meeting presided over by Joseph Tutul Biswas, Project Manager of Pirganj Community Development Project of Good Neighbors was addressed by Md. Ziaul Islam Zia Pirganj Upazila Parishad Chairman as chief guest. ABM Iftekharul Islam Khandakar, Upazila Nirbahi officer Pirganj was present as `guest of honor’ and Murshidul Karim Muhammad Istesham, Officer in charge Pirganj Thana , Md. Akramul Hoque Saidpur UP chairman, Ranajit kumar Roy Ex- UP chairman, Md. Mokaddes Hayat Milon Thakurgaon district correspondent of the daily New Nation spoke as special guest.
Hanging body of house wife recovered in Barisal

Hanging dead body of a house wife recovered from her home at Muslim Gorosthan Road area of the city on Thursday noon.The victim was identified as Jhumur Begum, 20, wife of vegetable seller Jamal Hossain.Sub Inspector Abdul Malek of Barisal Kotwali police station said the victim was residing with their in laws and during the incident none was at home.Neighbours seeing her hanging body informed police and family members at about 1:30 pm. Police rushed to the spot recovered the dead body hanging from rooftop tying electrical wire on neck, he added. Sahkawat Hossain, Kotwali police station in charge, said lodging a case of unnatural death police sent the dead body to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Although locals reported that the family has no feud and rivalry, but police started investigation to recover the cause of death, the OC Kotwali PS told.
