Detectives yesterday pressed charges against Rafiqul Islam Madani, widely known as “Shishu Bokta” in another case filed with Tejgaon Model Police Station under the Digital Security Act.
Earlier, Rafiqul Islam was charged in two other cases filed with Motijheel Police Station of the capital and Gazipur’s Gacha Police Station under the Digital Security Act.
Abul Kalam Azad, Inspector of Cyber and Special Crime Division of DB and also the Investigation Officer of the case, on Saturday (April 9) submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka.
The charge sheet says, the charges brought against Rafiqul Islam of making derogatory comments about the President and Prime Minister were primarily proved and he needs to be brought under trial for his involvement with such offences.
Mohammad Mamun filed the case with the police station on April 11, last year.
Rafiqul Islam was arrested from the Motijheel area on March 25 last year during a demonstration protesting the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the occasion of the golden jubilee of Bangladesh independence, and later he was freed.
On April 7 the same year, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Rafiqul Islam from his ancestral home in Netrakona’s Purbatola area. Later he was shown arrested in four cases filed with Gacha, Motijheel and Tejgaon police stations under the Digital Security Act.
