Sports Reporter :Bangladesh kept domination on the second day of the third Test as the Tigers piled up a mammoth 503 in the first innings against Zimbabwe at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Thursday.In reply, the tourists scored 113 for the loss of one wicket at the close of the second day play.Bangladesh resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 303 for the loss of two wickets. Mominul Haque (46) and Mahmudullah Riyad (5) resumed their first innings but promising Mominul Haque returned to the pavilion adding just two runs.He was caught by Brendan Taylor off Tinashe Panyangara when Bangladesh’s score was 312 for the loss of three wickets.After dismissal of Mominul Haque, Mahmudullah Riyad failed to make notable score. He was trapped leg before wicket by Shingi Masakadza when the team’s total was 339 for the loss of four wickets.Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim also failed to make a respectable score as he was cleanly bowled out by Hamilton Masakadza when Bangladesh’s score was 378 for the loss of five wickets.After departure of Mushfiqur Rahim, best Test all-rounder of the world Shakib Al Hasan and Shuvagata Hom contributed 50 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Shakib Al Hasan was caught at the cover by Craig Ervine off Sikandar Raza when the hosts total was 428 for the loss of six wickets. Shakib Al Hasan notched up a brilliant 71 off 110 balls. His 145-minute innings was laced with seven fours. Shakib Al Hasan fulfilled his 17th Test half century using 75 deliveries.Then Taijul Islam arrived at the crease but his innings was short-lived as he was caught behind by Richmond Mutumbami of Shingi Masakadza when Bangladesh’s score was 429 for the loss of seven wickets.Later, Shafiul Islam was dismissed by Sikandar Raza when the hosts total was 451 for the loss of eight wickets.Shuvagata Hom scored a modest 35 before he was unfortunately run out by Richmond Mutumbami when the home side’s total was 452 for the loss of nine wickets.Tail-enders Rubel Hossain and Jubair Hossain contributed 51 runs for the tenth wicket stand before Jubair Hossain was cleanly bowled out by Tinashe Panyangara when Bangladesh’s innings came to an end. Rubel Hossain entertained the spectators by his devastating innings. He cracked four sixes and two fours in his unbeaten 45 off 44.Sikandar Raza was the peak of the Zimbabwean bowlers. He grabbed three wickets at the cost of 123 runs. Hamilton Masakadaza, Tinashe Panyangara and Shingi Masakadza took two wickets each.Later, pacer Rubel Hossain gave his team early breakthrough as he removed opener Brian Chari for naught. Then opener Sikandar Raza and Hamilton Masakadza put on together 104 runs for the unbroken second wicket stand. Sikandar Raza remained unbeaten with 54 while Hamilton Masakadza remained undefeated with 51.
