E-payment of import duty to introduce in Ctg Port from next month
Chattogram Bureau :
From the first day of the new year, all kinds of tariffs will be on e-payment in Chattogram port. And after 10 days, from the first day of the new year, all kinds of duty and tax on goods imported through Chittagong port will have to be paid through compulsory e-payment system.
However, before this, the work of paying more than two lakh taka through e-payment system had started from last July. After making this new payment system easy for everyone, provision is being made to make all types of payments in compulsory e-payment irrespective of any amount of duty or tax.
Earlier in 2016, e-payment system was introduced by the National Board of Revenue (NBR). But it took almost three years to implement it. For the first time in April this year, all types of bills of entry were made payable through e-payment at Kamalapur ICD.
After the success of that pilot program, from July this year, the provision of e-payment system was implemented in all customs houses and customs stations of the country if the tax is more than Tk 2 lakh. Now, from the first day of 2022, there is no limit in paying taxes through e-payment.
For this reason, e-payment has been made mandatory for the payment of all kinds of duties and taxes at the import stage from the new year, customs sources said.
