JS body for increasing number of rly stations

The parliamentary standing committee on public assurance recommended to reach railway services to the doorsteps of the people and increase the number of railway stations.
The recommendation was made on Sunday at the 9th meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman Kazi Keramat Ali presiding.
Committee members Alhaj Advocate Rahamat Ali, M Shahiduzzaman Sarkar, AKM Shahjahan Kamal and M Abdul Majid Khan attended the meeting, said an official release.
The meeting held discussions on pledges regarding railway made by the Prime Minister and ministers in the sessions of 9th parliament.
It suggested quick renovation of neglected railway stations across the country.
The committee recommended the ministry to recover occupied railway land. It suggested dividing the whole country into four railway zones instead of the existing two.
Senior officials concerned were present at the meeting.
