403 arrested in Dhaka for violating ‘strict restrictions’

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Friday said that they arrested 403 people at places in the capital for violating the restrictions on public movement imposed by the government for two weeks from Friday to contain surge of Covid death and infection in Bangladesh.
Several mobile courts aided by the metropolitan police authorities fined 203 people, realising Tk 1,27,270 while the DMP’s traffic department fined Tk 10,60,500 to 441 other vehicles for violating the restriction. Friday was the first day of the 14-day fresh ‘strict restrictions’ imposed by the government. The government initially imposed ‘strict’ restrictions across the country for a week from July 1 to contain the increase of Covid cases and deaths and the restrictions were extended for another week. The nationwide strict lockdown continued until July 14 midnight and then relaxed it until Friday morning on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
