City’s bus terminals swarm with home going passengers

With withdrawal of restrictions from Thursday, pasasenger buses started to ply in a large number across the country, including the capital city.
As a result, tens and thousands of homebound people moved the bus terminals of the city.
Besides, Dhaka seemed to have returned to normalcy from Thursday morning, as a large number of public transports started plying on the city streets after a long break due to a strict lockdown.
On Thursday morning, all the bus terminals of the capital were seen crowded with homebound passengers.
After a while, the inter-district bus left the terminal with passengers.
But, most passengers and drivers were indifferent to the hygiene rules.
In the Mohakhali bus terminal area, passengers were seen sitting with bags and bedding since the morning.
Someone will go to Sylhet, some are waiting to go to different places of the country including Mymensingh, Sherpur, Jamalpur and Netrokona.  
According to the transport owners, more than 400 buses ply daily from Mohakhali bus terminal to Bogra, Pabna, Naogaon, Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Sirajganj, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Greater Mymensingh, and Tangail districts.
Besides, from the same terminal, more than one and a half hundred buses of ENA Paribahan transport passengers to the greater Sylhet.
The same picture was also seen in city’s Gabtali bus terminal. It was noticed that a large number of passengers gathered at Gabtali since morning. Some are going by private cars and microbuses. Some are going home again by bike with risk.
The government has relaxed the ongoing lockdown for eight days from July 14 midnight to 6.00am on July 23 Thursday to celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
Eid-ul-Azha will be held on July 21. The lockdown will start again from July 23.
Meanwhile, the city’s shopping malls and shops have also been opened on the same day.
