JU Prof co-chairs in int’l conference on sustainable dev

Professor Sheikh Tawhidul Islam, Director, Institute of Remote Sensing and GIS-Jahangirnagar University served as session Co-Chair at the the second International conference on Disaster Resilience and Sustainable Development.
The conference was arranged virtually by Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) with the association of globally renowned academic institutions on June 25. The Ambassador of Bangladesh in Thailand, Mohammed Abdul Hye launched the conference.
Two Volumes of “Bangabandhu Chair Special Issue” of the double peer reviewed International Energy Journal titled “Energy, Disaster and Climate Change: Sustainability and Just Transitions in Bangladesh” were unveiled before more than 300 international experts and professionals.
Professor Tawhid along with Bangabandhu Chair at AIT Professor Joyashree Roy, Indrajit Paul was the editor of the Journals during the Mujib Year.
“The conference was successful where Bangladesh was highly featured. I am proud of my institutions for representing my beloved country before the citizens of various countries of the world,” said Professor Tawhidul Islam.
The second day of the symposium featured an special session titled ‘Bangabandhu Chair Dialogue Panel’ where nine experts from different national and international institutions shared vibrant opinion regarding climate change, disaster management and sustainable development in Bangladesh.
Professor Tawhid completed PhD from Durham University, UK with the funding of Commonwealth Scholarship. More than 60 national and international research projects were headed by the professor. Professor Tawhid has published 40 research articles in peer review journal. He is the Adviser of Jahangirnagar University journalists’s Association (JUJA).
