Prime Bank Cricket Club beat Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Samity by five wickets, according to the Duckworth/Lewis Method in their rain-interrupted match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on Thursday. Prime Bank led the points table securing 18 points from 11 matches, while Khelaghar earned eight points from as many matches. Prime Bank confirmed their Super League berth, while Khelaghar failed to reach the Super league.
Electing to first, Khelaghar made 68 for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 50 overs (ten overs were curtailed due to rain). In reply, Prime Bank reached the winning target making 74 for the loss of five wickets in 9.1 overs. Prime Bank had a revised target of 74 to win in ten overs.
Opener Rony Talukdar of Prime Bank hammered a hurricane 39. His 19-ball innings laced with seven fours and a sixer.
Anamul Haque of Prime Bank scored 17 from 16 balls featuring one four and one sixers.
Irfan Hossain of Khelaghar bagged two wickets at the cost of 16 runs, while Masum Khan got one wicket conceding 17 runs.
Earlier, Shahriar Komol of Khelaghar remained unbeaten with 31. His 25-ball knock saw four fours and a sixer. Nahidul Islam of Prime Bank captured two wickets in the space of 12 runs, while Monir Hossain took one wicket for 24 runs.
Rony Talukdar of Prime Bank was adjudged the Man of the Match.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Abahani Limited won over Legends of Rupganj by five wickets, according to the Duckworth/Lewis Method in their rain-interrupted match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the same venue on the same day.
Abahani took the third position gaining 16 points from 11 matches, while Rupganj earned seven points from as many matches.
Opting to bat first, Legends of Rupganj piled up a fighting total of 162 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 18 overs (two overs were curtailed due to rain).
In return, Dhaka Abahani Limited sailed home making 164 for the loss of five wickets in 17.4 overs. Abahani had a revised target of 164 to win in 18 overs. Mohammad Naim of Abahani played the key role to chase the Rupganj’s target. Naim remained unbeaten with 39. His 19-ball innings ornamented with two fours and two sixes.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, Munim Shahriar, Afif Hossain and Mushfiqur Rahim added 29, 22, 21 and 20 runs respectively to the Abahani total.
Mohammad Shahid of Legends of Rupganj bagged two wickets at the cost of 40 runs.
Sunzamul Islam, Muktar Ali and Nabil Samad took one wicket each.
Earlier, opener Mehedi Maruf of Legends of Rupganj hit a polished 52. His 42-ball innings was decorated with three fours and two sixes.
Sabbir Rahman and Al-Amin added 35 and 26 runs respectively to the Rupganj total. Mehedi Hasan Rana of Abahani grabbed three wickets instead of 37 runs, while Mohammad Saifuddin claimed two wickets for 36 runs.
Mohammad Saifuddin was adjudged the Man of the Match.
