‘People’s court’ to be set up if there is no fair trial for Sinha’s murder

Staff Reporter :
Speakers at a human chain on Monday demanded fair trial of the killing of Major (Retd) Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan terming it a premeditated murder.
“If the government) does not ensure fair trial of the Sinha murder case, a people’s court will sit in front of the press club,” Mahmudur Rahman Manna, convener of Nagorik Oikya, said this while speaking at the human chain in front of the National Press Club.
The programme was organized by the
Ronangoner Muktijoddha and Muktijuddher Projonmo, demanding a fair trial for the murder of Sinha.
Manna said the government will not do justice in the Sinha murder because police are involved in the murder case. This police force was used to snatch ballots during night in the name of voting two years ago.
“Our fight is not against the police force; Our fight is not against any force. This fight is against the government of those who have committed atrocities, those who have committed murders, those who have oppressed the people. They have been in power illegally for 12 years,” Manna said.
Demanding a fair trial for Sinha’s murder, BNP Vice Chairman Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said, “Who killed Sinha?” This Awami League government is guiltier than Pradeep Das and Liaquat. The government provided license to them for carrying extra-judicial killings to remain in power.”
“We do not want to politicize the Sinha murder case,” he said adding, “I hope there will be a fair trial for what the Prime Minister has said. If not, we will blame her for what reason Sinha’s family did not get justice. We will wait to see the justice.”
Hafiz Uddin said people are being killed in different places every day. Women are not able to protect their dignity. On the bus, they are being tortured. The situation in the country goes worse like March 1971. Everything has gone too far.
DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur said the killing of Major (Retd.) Sinha, the son of a freedom fighter, was not an unintentional or isolated incident, it was a premeditated murder.
