3 held with 17 gold bars at Ctg Airport

Customs officials in separate drives detained three passengers with 17 gold bars from Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport on Thursday night and Friday morning.
The detainees were identified as Habibullah of Fatikchhari upazila of the district, Golam Morshed of Raozan upazila of the district and Mohammad Sabuj of Comilla.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Chittagong Airport Customs, Moshiur Rahman Mondol said three gold bars weighing around 350 grams were recovered from Habibullah who came from Dubai by Bangladesh Biman flight (BG-026) that landed on Friday morning.
Customs officials recovered the gold bars worth about TK 15 lakhs kept inside a Vaseline cream pot after scanning his luggage, he added.
Besides, 14 gold bars weighing around 1700 grams were recovered from Morshed and Sabuj who came from Oman by Bangladesh Biman flight (BG-024) that landed around 11pm on Thursday night.
AC of Chittagong Airport Customs Othello Chowdhury said customs officials recovered the gold bars worth about TK 70 lakhs kept inside the sole of the shoes of the two passengers.
The passengers were detained for primary interrogation and legal steps would be taken against them as per customs rules, sources said.
