Parash new JL Chairman, Nikhil GS

Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, the eldest son of Jubo League (JL) founder Sheikh Fazlul Huq Moni, has been elected (unopposed) new Chairman of the Awami League’s youth wing for the next three years.
Besides, Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, incumbent President of Dhaka City North Unit of the youth wing, has been picked up as General Secretary (GS) of the Jubo League.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced Nikhil as General Secretary following party President Sheikh Hasina’s instruction.
Before announcing the name, Quader asked the seven GS aspirants to reach a compromise among them over the post, but they failed and vested all authority upon Sheikh Hasina.
The announcement came at council session (second phase) at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon.
Earlier, the first session of JL’s 7th Triennial National Congress was held at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital in the morning.
Awami League Joint General Secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organizing Secretaries Ahmed Hossain, BM Mozammel Haque and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap and Deputy Office Secretary Biplab Barua were, among others, present.
In the meantime, Chayan Islam, Convener of the Jubo League Congress Preparatory Committee, proposed the name while its incumbent secretary Harun-Or-Rashid supported it amid huge clapping from the participants.
A total of seven aspirants Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, Mohiuddin Mohi, Belal Hossain, Subrata Pal, Monjurul Alam Shahin, Iqbal Mahmud Bablu and Bodiul Alam were contesting for the GS post of the Jubo League. Of them, Nikhil was picked up as general secretary.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the first session of the seventh triennial congress at the Suhrawardy Udyan, while the second session was held at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in Dhaka.
