Retail shops in Port City filled with expired food items

Many food items in the stores of the retail shopkeepers in the port city , including fruit drinks, packaged milk, and ice cream are expired. Food ingredients also have no expiry date.
Such products were found on Monday in the market inspection of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate in Panchlaish, Halishahar and Akbar Shah police station areas. Due to such act against consumer interest, five shops were fined Tk 1.8 lakh.
Bikash Chandra Das, Assistant Director of the National Consumer Rights Protection’s divisional office, and Mohammad Hasanuzzaman, Assistant Director of the district office, led the operation in collaboration with the members of APPBN-9.
