They’re not lovers at all
IT’S certainly a shocking incident. A 23-year-old youth stormed into a wedding ceremony at a community centre on Dilu Road in the city’s Moghbazar and hacked the bride’s father to death and injured the bride’s mother on Thursday. According to newspaper reports; Sajib Ahmed Roky swooped on Tula Mia at his daughter’s wedding ceremony at Priyanka Shooting House community centre on Dilu Road at about 1:30pm. Tula Mia’s wife Firoza also came under attack as she tried to save him. Tula Mia was rushed to nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead. Meanwhile, the guests at the wedding ceremony as well as locals caught Sajib, gave him a good beating and police rescued him from the angry mob. Sajib, hailed from Cumilla, claimed that he had a love affair with Tula Mia’s daughter and he got angry as Tula Mia was marrying his daughter off to someone else.
A love affair is a romantic relationship between two people who love each other. Men or women used to sacrifice their dearest or most expensive thing for the cause of love. In many cases marriage is not the ultimate ending of the love affairs. There are many reasons – social, religious, financial and others. If anyone fails to marry his fiancé that doesn’t mean that he will have to kill her or her father and mother.
But what we are seeing nowadays? The self-declared lovers are killing or injuring either their fiancés or the newly married husbands. Barguna’s Rifat murder case is the best example for it. Former student leader at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology Badrul Alam hacked Khadiza with a sharp weapon outside Sylhet MC College on Oct 3 in 2016 when the girl refused him. There are several thousand acid victims in Bangladesh; of which 99% were attacked for refusing love proposal. Several ill-fated girls were raped, gang-raped or killed-after-rape by the thugs apparently for the same reason.
How a lover becomes cruel if he fails to marry his fiancé? Love is divine. A relation of love could bring positive change in a man. The persons who killed their lovers or their parents or husbands weren’t good human beings.
