‘Drug trader killed in ‘gunfight’

A suspected drug peddler was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) near the Marine Drive area of Teknaf upazila on early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ibrahim, 22, son of Syed Ali of Teknaf.
BGB-2 Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Foysal Hasan Khan said a BGB team signalled a Cox’s Bazar-bound auto-rickshaw to stop around 4am.
“But criminals ignored the signal and fired on the BGB team, triggering a
gunfight,” he said. After a while, the criminals got down from the vehicle and continued firing. After the skirmish, the BGB members recovered the body of Ibrahim, the CO said.
