DU signs MoU with CIRDAP

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Dhaka University and Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) was signed on Monday at a simple ceremony at the office of the DU Vice Chancellor. Dr Cecep Effendi, Director General of CIRDAP and Treasurer of DU Prof Dr Md Kamal Uddin signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Director, Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies (IDMVS), Prof Dr Mahbuba Nasreen, Registrar, Syed Rezaur Rahman, CIRDAP Director (Pilot Projects) Hossein Shahbaz and Director, Information and Communication Division, Dr Vasanthi Rajendran were, among others, were present on the occasion.
The main purpose of this MoU is to organize national, regional and international seminars, symposiums, workshops and policy dialogues on contemporary issues like effects of climate change in agriculture development.
 disaster management, poverty alleviation, women empowerment and rural development on mutual benefits. Besides, academic exchange, joint research and collaborations on various fields are the prime objective of this MoU.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique thanked the CIRDAP authorities for signing the MoU. He hoped that through signing of this MoU, both the organizations would be able to contribute significantly for the development of common people of Asia and the Pacific.
This would also inspire and encourage higher education process of Dhaka University, he added.
