A suicide bomber killed three foreign soldiers in an attack on a patrol in eastern Afghanistan on Sunday, NATO’s mission in the country said. “Three Resolute Support service members were killed by a suicide bomber during a combined, dismounted patrol with Afghan forces in eastern Afghanistan,” it said in a statement.
A US member of the patrol and two Afghan soldiers were wounded, it said, without giving the nationality of those killed.
20 killed as heavy rain trigger flood in China

Twenty people were killed and eight others went missing as torrential rains triggered flood in northwest China, state-run media reported yesterday. Over 8,700 houses, farmland, roads, railway lines and power and telecommunication facilities were damaged in the floods that have wreaked havoc in China since early this week, it said. While 20 people died this week in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, eight remained missing after heavy downpours hit Qincheng Township in Hami on July 31, state-run Xinhua news agency said.
Jihadists hit Iraq power line

Jihadists have attacked a high voltage power line serving several Iraqi provinces for the eighth time in two months, the government said on Sunday.
The electricity ministry said it had to once again repair the 400 kilovolt line between Kirkuk and Diyala after “terrorist attacks of sabotage… which caused the line to cut” on Thursday.
Pakistan road crash kills 18
AFP, Peshawar
A collision between a passenger bus and an oil tanker killed at least 18 people and wounded 25 others in northwestern Pakistan, police said on Sunday.
The bus was heading to the southern port city of Karachi with about 48 passengers when it collided with the truck near the city of Kohat Saturday, police official Ijaz Khan told AFP. The vehicles were travelling towards each other on a single-lane road when they collided, Khan said. Of the 25 people wounded, he added, nine were seriously injured.
