HC grants bail to CU ex-proctor

The High Court yesterday granted permanent bail to Anwae Hossian Chowdhury , former Assistrent Proctor of Chittagong University , after 58 days in jail over the murder case of Bangladesh Chhattra League leader Diaz Irfan Chowdhury last year.
The High Court Division bench of Justice Obidul Haque and Justice Krishna Debnath passed the order on the Thursday as he will be on bail until the final report of police is submitted in this case. Confirming the matter, Senior jail Superintendent of Chittagong Central Jail Iqbal Kabir said that there was a case against teacher Anwar Hossain Chowdhury. He got bail from the High Court in the case. After getting the documents related to the bail, he was released on Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier on 18 December he surrendered at the end of the interim bail and was sent him jail. Police recovered the late body of Diaz, assistant secretary of BCL central committee, from his residence in Chittagong University’s south campus on November 20, 2016. On November 24 last year.
