3 killed in separate incidents in Cox’s Bazar

Three persons were killed in separate incidents in Teknaf and Pekua upazilas here in two days.
A handicapped minor was shot dead and another injured over a trifling matter at Chhila Purba Rongikhali area in Teknaf Upazila here on Tuesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Sadek Hossen, 7, son of a day labourer Qader Hossen, of the area, and the injured is Mujahid, 7.
Local sources said Nur Ayesha, mother of the injured Mujahid, rebuked her neighbour Belal Uddin, 35, over trifling matter.
Following this, Belal shot at Ayesha with his illegal gun, but the bullet hit Sadek and Mujahid.
Later, Sadek died on the way to a local hospital.
Local people caught Belal and handed him over to Sub-Inspector (SI) of Teknaf Police Station (PS) Mahir Khan. Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf PS Moyeen Uddin confirmed the incident.
In another incident, a youth was killed in a drum explosion at a mechanical workshop owned by one Hossain in Pekua Bazaar under Pekua Upazila here on Monday.
He was identified as Mohammad Harun, 28, son of Mohammad Kalu, of Sabjibanpara area in the upazila.
Quoting eyewitnesses, Pekua PS SI Abdur Rahman and Inspector Monjur Kader said, “Several workshops have been cutting date-expired oil drums and gas cylinders amid risk for long. As the youth went to the spot, an oil drum exploded, leaving him dead on the spot.”
