Speaker for B’desh-Nepal jt working group

Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said a Bangladesh-Nepal joint working group would be formed to protect common interest of the two countries.
Apart from this, she said a parliamentary friendly group has to be formed with Nepal for further strengthening relations between the two peoples through exchange of parliamentary delegation.
The Speaker stated this on Wednesday when the Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh HK Shrestha called on her at her parliament office here. During the meeting, they discussed various issues relating to bilateral and multilateral matters attaching utmost important to further cementing ties between the two countries through expanding cooperation.
Dr Shirin Sharmin said the two countries have been enjoying excellent bilateral relations that the relations would be further cemented in the days to come.
In this connection, she sought Nepalese cooperation in water management and hydropower sectors.
In reply, the Ambassador said Nepal would remain beside Bangladesh in its development efforts including expanding trade and business between the two countries.
As a country in the Asian region, the Speaker sought Nepal support for the Bangladeshi parliamentarian for the post of president in the upcoming IPU (Inter- Parliamentary Union) election.
The ambassador invited the Speaker to visit Nepal at a convenient time. In reply, the Speaker invited Nepal parliament speaker and National Council chairman to visit Bangladesh.
