A Chittagong court sentenced 10 years rigorous imprisonment to two accused of arms case on Tuesday. The court also fined Tk 10,000. In failure of the payment of the fine, the court sentenced one more year to the accused. The accused are Mohammad Abu Sayed of Bakolia in Chittagong and Nur Ali of Moheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar.
Both the accused are absconding.
The court of Chittagong Divisional Public Safety Tribunal sentenced 10 years to Mohammad Abu Sayed and Nur Ali under section 19/A of Arms Act.
The judge Sayeda Hosne Ara Begum announced the verdict. Sources said, police caught the arms traders Mohammad Abu Sayed and Nur Ali from a hotel at Bohoddarhat area in the port city when they were selling arms there on January 17 in 2001.
Police also recovered the gun which was being sold at that time from the possession of two arms traders.
