Sea pirate held with foreign made arms, ammo

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in a drive, arrested a top listed pirate and chief of the gang named ‘Kalam Bahini’ with eight foreign made fire arms, ammunition and contraband yaba tablets from green view residential area, under Panchliash thana in the city on Wednesday night. The RAB team also recovered TK 16.39 lakh in cash from his possession.
The arrested was identified as Mohammad Abul Kalam, 55, a sea pirate of Meghna estuary. RAB claimed that Kalam is the top leader of pirates’ gang ‘Kalam Bahini’. Based on secret information, a RAB team raided a residence in Green view area under Panchliash thana in the city and arrested Kalam with two foreign made guns, five round bullets.
 2000 pieces Yaba, 26 mobile sets and TK 16.39 lakh and three hundred in cash, said Lieutenant Colonel Miftauddin, commander of RAB-7.
According to his confession the RAB team raided port link road area and recovered six foreign made revolvers and pistols, 10 round bullets and other ammunition.
