Tigers reach India to play one-off Test
Bangladesh cricket team reached Hyderabad safely on Thursday evening to play the one-off Test against India starting on February 9.
A total of 23-member Bangladesh team, including 15 players, left Dhaka by a flight of US-Bangla Airlines around 12:30pm and reached their destination at 7:30pm via a connecting flight of Indigo Airline from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata.
The Tigers were scheduled to leave the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka at 11:40am, but the flight was delayed around 45 minutes.
Mushfiqur Rahim-led Bangladesh will start their tour campaign with a two-day warm-up match against India ‘A’ team at Gymkhana Ground, Secunderabad, starting on February 5.
The only Test of the tour scheduled to be held at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
The Tigers are expected to return home on February 14.
Despite India were the Tigers’ opposition in their inaugural Test in 2000, they are the last of the ICC full-member nation to host Bangladesh for a Test for the first time.
However, India visited Bangladesh in 2000, 2004, 2007, 2010 and 2015 and played eight Test matches where Bangladesh managed draw in two matches.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday (February 1) announced a 15-man squad for the Test while Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced their squad a day before (January 31st).
Bangladesh Test Squad: Mushfiqur Rahim (captain), Tamim Iqbal, Sabbir Rahman, Mahmudullah Riyad, Shakib Al Hasan, Mominul Haque, Mehedi Hasan, Taijul Islam, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Soumya Sarkar, Taskin Ahmed, Subashis Roy, Imrul Kayes, Liton Kumar Das and Shafiul Islam.
India squad: Virat Kohli (captain), Murali Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Karun Nair, Wriddihiman Saha, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Jayant Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Amit Mishra, Abhinav Mukund and Hardik Pandya.
