Kidnapped Jubo Dal leader found dead in Laxmipur

The body of Shamsul Islam Solaiman, a district-level Jubo Dal leader, who was abducted by some unidentified persons from the city’s Uttara on Thursday night, was found dead at Basurhat in Laxmipur Sadar upazila on Saturday.
 Solaiman was a joint secretary of Laxmipur district unit of the BNP’s youth front and son of late Saidur Rahman of Syedpur village in Sadar upazila.
Mozammel Hossain, in-charge of Daserhat police camp said that the police recovered the bullet-hit body of Solaiman having received information from the local people. The body was sent to Sadar hospital morgue in the morning.
The reason behind the killing could not be known immediately, he said.
Meanwhile, Salma Islam Maya, wife of Solaiman alleged that some plainclothes police numbering about eight or nine had picked up Solaiman at gunpoint from in front of Joynal Market in the city’s Uttara area when he was returning home at about 11:00 pm on Thursday.
Those who had abducted Solaiman introduced themselves as members of DB police, Salama Islam said. Jeba, sister of Solaiman said that they searched for Solaiman in all possible places. On the night of abduction he had gone to Uttara to consult a doctor. He was living in city’s house number 34, Road number 8, E BLock, Banasree.
 At the time of abduction his minor son was on his lap. When the abductors became sure of his identity they threw away his minor child from his lap and took him to the mircro-bus which was following the rickshaw he was riding, family sources said. His wife with his sister were in another rickshaw at the time of the abduction, the family members of Solaiman said.
Salma Islam met DB police, RAB and local police stations immediate after the inciddent.
His family members claimed that he was not active in politics for sometime as he was giving more time to garment accessories business.
Earlier, Masudur Rahman , Deputy Commissioner of DMP told the media that he had no information regarding arrest of Shamsul Islam Solaiman.  
 A case was filed with Uttara Police Station in this connection on Friday. Police however, claimed that Solaiman was an ” enlisted terrorist.”
Meanwhile, Al- Haj Waliullah, a local level Jubo League leader of Mirpur was abducted from Section- 13, Mirpur on March 21 night. Rebeka Sultana, wife of Waliullah who was involved in cable business has been trying to trace him in all possible places. Waliullah was abducted by a group of persons equipped with arms at gun point when he was standing in front of Sangha Club on March 21 night, Rebeka Sultana said.
She also met local Member of Parliament Kamal Ahmed Majumder for his help in tracing her husband. But Majumder , she said, asked her to pray to Almighty Allah for return of her husband. She sought help of members of law enforcing agencies including RAB to trace her husband who is the only earning member of the family. She is seen most of the time with an infant on her lap and physically handicapped son Fahim (7). So far she could not find any clue to trace him, she said in a crying voice.
The incident of abduction, his wife said has been informed to police and RAB.
A case has also been filed with police in this connection.
Rebeka Sultana said that his husband had dispute with cable business and landed property. She suspects that her husband might have been abducted by those with whom he has rivalry centering business and property. She has received threats over phone after abduction of dire consequences if the matter is informed to members of law enforcing agencies, she said.
 Talking to the media in front of DB office Rebeka said she would become helpless with four minor children if her husband does not return to the family.
Officer in Charge of Kafrul Thana told the media that Rebeka Sultana has filed a case with the police in connection with abduction of Waliullah. The police, he said, was doing its best to trace him.
