Truck kills one in city

A man was killed and three others injured when a truck rammed into an auto-rickshaw in the city’s Paltan area early Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Abdul Alim (35), driver of the auto-rickshaw and son of Zahirul Islam, inhabitant of Selimpur village under Talai upazila in Joypurhat district.
Police sources said that, the accident took place in the area at about 5:00 am when a truck knocked down the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. The auto-rickshaw was carrying four passengers. The injured were admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
Shashanka Paul, Sub-Inspector of Paltan Police Station, said that the truck driver fled the scene before law enforcers’ arrival.
“We are trying to arrest the driver” the SI said.
 The body of the deceased has been sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.
