Four BD boys reach quarterfinals
Four Bangladesh boys reached quarterfinals from the single event of the Asian Under 14 Series Tennis Competition beating their respective rivals on the opening day at Ramna Tennis Complex on Monday.
To confirm their quarterfinals berth, Utsho Zubaid beat Shine Tokas (India) by 6-0, 6-1 games; Juel Rana defeated Faridur Reza by 6-3, 6-3 games; Shaiket Shahrier outplayed Md Forhad Islam Rodro by 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 games and Tamim Bin Zahid beat Rakib Hossain by 7-5, 6-2 games.
Leston Vaz (India) won over Hossain Md Roman (Bangladesh) by 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 games; Dogeon Park (Korea) outplayed Mohammad Shakib (Bangladesh) by 6-1, 6-0 games; Timothy Lim (Singapore) won against Jeong Yu Kim (Korea) by 6-2, 6-2 games and Phathikone Kanyaphan (Laos) beat Saiful Alam Mizan (Bangladesh) by 6-0, 6-1 games to be the other quarterfinalists in the boys’ single event.
Meanwhile, in the girls single event of the competition at the same venue, two Bangladeshi girls — Fabiha Lamisa Suchona and Susmita Sen– and Eun-Ji Jung of Korea advanced to the 2nd round.
In the first round games, Suchona beat Deborah Li Jun Lim (Singapore) by 6-3, 6-0 games; Susmita defeated Sumaiya Hossain (Bangladesh) by 6-1, 6-2 games and Eun-Ji Jung beat Mashfia Afrin (Bangladesh) by 6-1, 6-0 games.
