Shohag Gazi hits century: Dhaka Metro trailing by 274 runs against Barisal

Dhaka Metropolis team were trailing by 274 runs with seven wickets in hand against Barisal Division scoring 145 for 3 in 61 overs in the first innings on the 2nd day of the Tier-1 four-day match of first class National Cricket League at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Monday.
Barisal Division resumed the first innings on the day-2 with their overnight score of 301 for 6 in 88 overs and were all out for 419 runs in 118 overs, featuring a century by national coloured all-rounder Shohag Gazi.
Number six batsman Shohag Gazi, who shared 139 runs with number five Abu Sayeem in the 5th wicket stand on Sunday, today made another fruitful 111-run partnership with number eight batsman Monir Hossain in the 7th wicket stand to guide the team to a good total.
Night-watch batsman Shohag Gazi, who was on batting with 87 runs completed his century hammering 142 runs off 190 balls, featuring 13 fours and four sixes while another night-watch batsman Monir Hossain scored 77-ball 62 runs with six fours and two sixes.
Besides, middle order Abu Sayeem (98), opener Shahriar Nafees (48) and Salman Hossain (29) were the other notable scorers for Barisal Division.
Former national captain Mohammad Ashraful, who made his return in cricket memorable after completing long suspension grabbing three wickets for 49 runs on the first day (Sunday), took another wicket on the 2nd day conceding 62 runs in 21 overs with six maidens.
Arafat sunny, who captured two wickets for 99 runs on the first day (Sunday), finally returned with four wickets for 149 runs.
The day’s other Tier-1 league match between Khulna Division and Dhaka Division could not be held due to rain and wet outfield at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra.
Earlier on Sunday, sent in to bat first, Khulna Division scored a comfortable 172 for 1 in 50.5 overs against Dhaka Division in the rain-hit first innings on the first day of the four-day affairs with national coloured opener Anamul Haque Bijoy and one down Mosaddek Iftekhar batting with 84 and 71 runs respectively, adding 162 runs in the 2nd wicket stand.
Shahadat Hossain grabbed the lone wicket conceding 34 runs.
