Police rounded up Driver of a covered van and its helper in Chittagong for alleged involved with the selling of imported garments cloths from covered van.
Bandar thana police of CMP detained them from Barapol area in city at midnight of Wednesday while unloading the rolls of cloths from the covered van.
Police recovered 380 rolls of cloths worth about Tk.40 lakh from the spot.
The detained driver, helper identified as Md. Yasrafil Hossain and Helper Md. Selim. Officer in-charge of Bandar Thana AKM Mohiuddin Selim told the media that Vanguard Apparrels of Chittagong imported these cloths aimed at exporting finished products.
These cloths loaded in 3 covered vans delivered from port yard on Wednesday night about 8 pm with destination to factory premise in Pahartali area. Police sources said out of three vans, one cover van reported missing on the way which was later informed to police immediately.
Instantly police conducted raid in port area and managed to detect the location of the van and arrested van driver, helper red-handed along with cloths.
A case in connection was lodged with the Bandar thana, sources said.
