Sri Lanka piled up 189 for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs against England in their Group 1 match of the ICC World Twenty20 Cricket at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Thursday.
Mahela Jayawardene hammered a superb 89 from 51 balls featuring 11 boundaries and three over boundaries while opener TM Dilshan hit 55 off 47 balls with four fours and two sixes.
Chris Jordan and Jade Dernbach bagged two wickets each for 28 and 42 runs respectively.
England needed 190 runs to win.
