Mass signature campaign demanding justice for Tonu at CoU

Following the murder of Tonu, the incident created a firestorm and sparked protest at Comilla University . One student is seen to sketch her rebellious assertions during a mass signature campaign at CoU.

As public outburst over the killing of Comilla Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu rocked several places of the country, students of Comilla University (CoU) on Wednesday under the banner of Pathagar Andolon Bangladesh formed a human chain and participated in a mass signature campaign demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers.
CoU unit BCL secretary Reza-E-Elahi, BCL leader Eleas Hossen Sabuj, Imam Hossain, Coordinator of Pathagar Andolon Bangladesh, Theatre Comilla University, Protibartan, Anuprash Kantha charcha Kendra and others social and cultural organization expressed solidarity with the campaign.
Earlier on March 23 and 27, the students of CoU formed a human chain and blockade the Dhaka-Chittagong highway creating a 50 km tailback.
To note, the dead body of Tonu, a 19-year old theatre activist, with her head smashed, was recovered from a bush near a culvert inside the Comilla Cantonment on the night of March 20.
Mr Yaar Hossain, father of Tonu and a class IV employee at Cantonment Board, later filed a case at Kotwali police station. But none of the killers has been identified or arrested up eleven days after the murder.
