4 Yaba traders arrested

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested four alleged Yaba traders including a woman with one lakh pieces of contraband Yaba tablets from city’s Askar Dighi area on Monday midnight.The arrested were identified as Chand Mia Soudagar, 49, Alamgir, 34,
Anisur Rahman, 35, and Hosne Ara Begum, 30.The RAB team also recovered Taka three Lakh and 40 thousand 147 from them and detained two motorbikes.
Lieutenant Colonel Miftah Uddin Ahmed, commander of RAB-7, said acting on secret information, a team of RAB raided two motorbikes at Sarson Road under city’s Kotwali thana and arrested Chand Mia, Alamgir and Anisur with 90 thousand pieces of Yaba tablets.Sensing presence of the RAB members, another Yaba trader Abdus Shakur,
who was in one of the motorbikes, fled away from the spot, the RAB commander, said adding that later RAB raided the house of Shakur in city’s Chandgaon residential area and arrested his wife Hosne Ara with 10 thousand pieces of Yaba tablets.
The arrestees during primary interrogation confessed that Chand Mia and Alamgir used to collect Yaba pills from Myanmar and distribute those among the retail sellers and users through Anis and Shakur.

Chand Mia was wanted in a case filed over recovery of five lakh Yaba
tablets in Cox’s Bazar while a case was filed with city’s Kotwali thana in this connection, RAB sources said.
